Pineapple

Has not been possible to determine with certainty the pineapple origin and its domestication. Studies indicate place of origin is the central and southern Brazil, northern Argentina and Paraguay.
About the Pineapple distribution, some studies indicates its place of origin is the the Amazon region, for it is the largest number of species considered valid so far. So, to northern Brazil could be considered a second center of diversification of this gender.

The expansion of Ananas gender in the world, followed closely the opening of major shipping routes by the Spanish and Portuguese during the 16th century. The sailors were responsible for
this distribution, perhaps by chance, with the loading of the fruit for consumption on board during travel and the abandonment of crowns in the various landing ports in Africa and Asia, and there it starts the primary material of natural increase. It is thus
its presence in St. Helena since 1505, in Madagascar in 1548. In Asia, its introduction starts in the second half of the 16th century. It is believed that the end of the 17th century, the plant was already known in most tropical areas of the globe.

Today, the pineapple is a symbol of real fruit, tropical and subtropical regions, for its unique flavor and aroma, the title of Fruits King.
